Prayer

The lifting of one's heart and mind to the Maker.
Prayer is a hunger as the late Detroit pastor, Father Ed Farrell wrote in a book by the same title, Prayer Is A Hunger.

And, stress, is a divine disconnect.  Find a way to pray daily.  Custom fit found way to pray to be a first fruit early after rising, midway through the day at 12 Noon perhaps, and at the traditional 6 pm routine that has worked for centuries for praying people connecting with the Creator.

The Litury of the Hours are the offical prayer for all Catholics.  A collection of psalms and prayer with Sacred Scripture and saints, these prayers are seasonal and made for an easy still time multiple times a day in routine developed and kept.

The prayer of Saint Francis for peace:  Lord, Make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred let me sow love...
A pro-life prayer, for example:  Lord, make haste to help us procure a human life amendment to our Constitution.
Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield.  (Psalm 33:20)

Psalms are prayers reflecting all the feelings faced daily:  Mad, sad, scared or glad feelings.  Explore the psalms and find a favorite to pray daily in your prayer space at home, in church, at school or work, or play, in your car.

Centering prayer is mindlessness with a word, such as love.  When distractions come, as they will, go back to the litany word, love, and relish and savor God's intimacy and affection for you.  Sit and be still in loving mindlessness, saying, doing nothing for up to twenty minutes twice a day, and ending your prayer session with the Our Father,
Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses and we forgive those who tresspass againt us, and lead us not into temption but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

The rosary - 5 decades of an Our Father and 10 Haily Mary's reflect on mysteries of the life of Jesus and Mary.  Go to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) for more information.
