GETHSEMANI. KY
retreat reflections
retreat reflections

What is it about Gethsemani in Trappist, Kentucky?

GOD ALONE greeted me with that marker overhead in entrance to the Monastic area for silence a week.

Union, communion, "divina unitiva" fills me it seems almost readily. After unwinding a day or two, removing the false self and entering the True Self with God pervades.

Quiet does afford me these days to connect in quality time with God, an opportunity I don't take often enough each day.

Psalms describing the best and worst in humankind take on a fresh appreciation in the 4 motivations for my praying:
contrition
adoraton
petition
thanksgiving

Home alone with God. It's nice. Awesome. Beautiful.
I am ever so grateful for God and the Trappist monks who pray 7 times daily. They have the harder path. They choose it. We're all better united with God when they and we join in contemplation, oneness with the Maker.

Peace gently finds me walking slower, praying more conscously with awarenss. +
