is international. Founed in france in 1945 in an effort to reconcile France and Germany after World War II. "Peace of Christ" is the translation for the Latin PAX CHRISTI.
Pope John Paul II on the Day of Peace, January 1979 said:
"To everyone, Christians, believers and men and women of goodwill, I say:
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TAKE A CHANCE ON PEACE, TO TEACH PEACE. THE ASPIRATION FOR PEACE WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED FOREVER. Work for peace, inspired by charity which does not pass away, will produce its fruits. Peace will be the last word of history."
PAX CHRISTI USA reaches out to more than half a million Catholics in the United States each year.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Pax Christi strives to crate a world that reflects the Peace of Christ by exploring, articulating, and witnessing to the call of Christian nonviolence. This work begins inpersonal life and extends to communities of reflection and action to transform structures of society.
Pax Christia USA rejects war, preparations for war, and evry form of violence and domination. It advocates primacy of conscience, economic and social justie and respect for creation.
